Confidence Our Insignia (3)

    “Being confident in this, that He who began a good work in me will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” – Philippians 1:6

    The human mind is a powerful determiner of current reality. Elite athletes know this to be true. They practice mindfulness as a mental discipline before a competition in order to bring their performance to its peak. Mindfulness is bringing the mind to a place of peaceful confidence. Six-time world heavyweight boxing champion Mohammad Ali is an outstanding example of an athlete whose mindset determined his confidence. One of his mindful quips was, “Float like a butterfly. Sting like a bee.”

    Peaceful confidence is our mindset. It marks how we think about God and is a powerful determiner of how we live. When you think about God, “Who is he to you?”. If you perceive God as being faithful then no matter the circumstances against you, your confident expectation in God’s nature will be:

    I am absolutely convinced
    the Father is utterly incapable of
    losing sight of me, ignoring me or abandoning me;
    nor is He capable of leaving me unfinished.

    To Ponder

    When you face an opponent in the ring of your life what do you see and say in your spirit? How true are these words for you, “I am never staring defeat in the face, the enemy is”. Talking this meditation over with a friend will encourage him/her and push it deeper into your being.

    To Pray

    I am eager, O Lord Jesus to enter the ring of my life today with the confidence of a champion. When ambushed by opposition or confronted “face-on” help me to remember I am not staring defeat in the face, the enemy is. My confidence rests in you O Lord, you are my Champion. Amen!”
