Pray for FAWN

    The term “prayer” may have become a cliché nowadays in the Christian world. As Christians, we have probably heard about it over and over again. Still, many of us do not live it and are sadly missing out on something glorious. The truth is: a life of prayer can transform the world. What are we waiting for to get down on our knees and pray? Isn’t the condition of the world—what we see and face on the streets every day, whether it be at the workplace, the university, the supermarket, or wherever we find ourselves in—enough to make us realize we desperately need people who will get down on their knees and pray?

    In the book of Habakkuk, we find a beautiful promise given to us:

    “For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea.”

    Habakkuk 2:14 (NKJV)

    This promise is yet to come and by God’s grace, we hope to take part in it. But while we wait for it to be fulfilled, are we to stand idle and do nothing about it? We are called to be the light of the world. We, Christians, have a crucial role in these times. It’s basically on us. Either we decide to shine or no one else will. If we don’t live in a way that others can see Christ in us, how will they come to know Him and the earth be filled with the knowledge of the glory of God?

    Nowadays, there’s a sacred/secular divide mentality in the world: “I live my sacred faith in my church (and maybe at home) but not in my secular world. Once I step out of church, I don’t have to live out my faith. What I hear in church on Sundays has no bearing on my life the rest of the week”. At Faith at Work Network (FAWN), we believe in the importance of being that light, shining for Jesus. In other words, we believe in the importance of living out our faith and not just professing it. And that doesn’t mean living it out only on Sundays during church service. We should do it 24/7, every day, no matter where we are or what we are doing. Maybe if we start living this way, we will begin to see a glimpse of this promise being fulfilled! It is known that, as adults, we spend most of our waking hours at work. Think about it: 5 out of 7 days and approximately 8 hours of each of those days we spend at work, among our colleagues and clients. Actually, a person will spend approximately one-third of his life at the workplace. One-third! It’s almost unthinkable! Some people spend more time with the people at their workplace than with their friends and family. Isn’t it then urgent that Christians live out their faith at work? Think of all the good things that would happen if only we decided to do this.

    This is the only way the lives of those around us will be impacted and our world will be transformed. So why don’t we get down on our knees and start praying for this to happen?

    Over the next 5 weeks, we will be sending you specific ways you can pray:

    1. Pray for the sacred/secular divide to end in your life and in the lives of believers around the globe

    For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord…”

    2 Timothy 1:7-8 (NKJV)

    Pray for believers (including yourself) to not be ashamed of the testimony of Christ in their lives. Pray that they start embracing the opportunity to be the light in their workplace. Pray that they have the courage to live their faith out, to be a testimony of God’s love to those around them, and to live out their calling every day of the week. Pray that these men and women will develop a deep and personal relationship with God that will then be evident in their sphere of influence. Pray that God’s life will shine through them in every single aspect of their lives so that they will be living witnesses of their Savior and Lord. Pray that their lives bring glory to God’s holy name.

    2. Pray for the Faith at Work Network (FAWN)

    And this I pray, that your love may abound still more and more in knowledge and all discernment, that you may approve the things that are excellent… being filled with the fruits of righteousness.”

    Philippians 1:9-11 (NKJV)

    We constantly pray for you, that our God may make you worthy of his calling, and that by his power he may bring to fruition your every desire for goodness and your every deed prompted by faith”.

    2 Thessalonians 1:11-12 (NIV)

    Pray that the Lord abundantly blesses and prospers FAWN so that it may bear fruit around the world. Pray that the right doors be open to FAWN and that it receives the divine knowledge and discernment to continue approving that which is excellent, proclaiming the word of God, communicating edifying stories, and promoting deeds of goodness and faith so that many lives will be reached and transformed. Pray that FAWN be counted worthy of its calling and be found faithful in doing that for which it has been founded.

    3. Pray for the leaders of fawn

    “[Pray for me], that utterance may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel.”

    Ephesians 6:19 (NKJV)

    This was what the Apostle Paul, the leader/founder of the church of Ephesus, asked the believers in Ephesus to pray. In the same manner, pray that the Holy Spirit will overshadow the leaders of FAWN so that they may speak the word of God with boldness. Pray for the Lord to guide them in each and every step. Pray that they remain faithful to God and His guidance and that they receive heavenly wisdom to share with others the burden God has laid on their hearts. Pray that they find grace in the eyes of pastors, agency leaders, and Christians in the workplace so that many lives may be reached and transformed for the glory of God.

    4. Pray for young leaders

    “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.”

    Matthew 5:14-16 (NKJV)

    Pray that God would raise young men and women of faith who will be a light to this world wherever they find themselves. Pray that these young people may have the manifest presence of God and the power of the Holy Spirit upon their lives to be a living testimony of the love, hope, peace, and joy found in Christ. Pray that they would be good and faithful stewards of their God-given talents so that people will glorify their Father in Heaven. Pray that they would be an outstretched arm to the needy, loving arms to the hurting and broken, and a living example of God’s immeasurable love for the lost and needy in their workplace and in this world.

    5. Pray for a revival in the Church

    “Return, we beseech You, O God of hosts;
    Look down from heaven and see,
    And visit this vine
    And the vineyard which Your right hand has planted…
    It is burned with fire, it is cut down…
    Revive us, and we will call upon Your name.
    Restore us, O Lord God of hosts;
    Cause Your face to shine,
    And we shall be saved.

    Psalm 80:14-15, 18-19 (NKJV)

    The Early Church had a great revival. It was so great that they couldn’t stop the converts from coming. They had one thousand converts in a single day and even more were added daily (Acts 2:47)! Thousands were being saved. We need this type of revival in our lives and churches today. God’s church, His vine, is not in a good condition. It needs to be revived and restored. We need the Holy Spirit to move in our lives and churches like never before! Pray for the Lord to shine his face upon us and bring a new visitation upon His people. Pray that He will visit His vine with His great power. Pray that He will rekindle the fire within us, so that we may shine bright and those in darkness may see the light, run to it, and be saved!
