Go

When Jesus invites us to “go” … to go to work, to go and talk a to a friend, to go and ask for forgiveness, to go and offer a word of encouragement, to go and step into a new venture with him … Jesus is inviting us to place our faith and our in trust in him, his promises and his power!

My wife designs cards, and loves to send encouragement cards to people. I invite you to imagine with me this week, going to your mailbox each morning and finding a card in it from God addressed to you. As you carefully open the first envelope you found in your mailbox this morning, and take the card out you read “Go…”. Turning to the inside of you find written a series of precious promises written just for you today.

Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the instructions Moses gave you. Do not deviate from them, turning either to the right or to the left. Then you will be successful in everything you do. Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do. This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” (Josh 1:7-9)

Don’t be afraid, for I am with you.
Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you.
I will hold you up with my victorious right hand. (Isa 41:10)

But now, O Jacob, listen to the Lord who created you.

O Israel, the one who formed you says,
“Do not be afraid, for I have ransomed you
.     I have called you by name; you are mine.
When you go through deep waters, I will be with you.
When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown.
When you walk through the fire of oppression,
          you will not be burned up;
the flames will not consume you.
For I am the Lord, your God,
the Holy One of Israel, your Savior. …
because you are precious to me.
You are honored, and I love you. (Isa 43:1-3a, 4b)

Our God is a promise keeping God! God will keep every single one of his promises that we find in the Bible!

Jesus has blessed you with the skills and abilities to take the next faithful step. To go where he is sending you to go, to do what he is calling you to do.

Jesus has blessed us with people in our life to help us take the next faithful step.

Jesus has blessed us with the equipment you need and the physical and emotional nourishment we need to take the next faithful step.

Jesus has blessed us with his promises that we can trust as we take the next faithful step.

If we are walking in obedience to God, we can go and face this week and this fall with hope, because our God is a promise keeping God!

When we accept Jesus’ invitation to go where he is encouraging us to go we are safer going than staying where we are, or in any other place in the world. We are safe because we are in the place of obedience to God.

God’s invitation to go doesn’t mean we won’t have encounter storms, or difficulties yet we are totally safe in the middle of those difficulties.
Our safety doesn’t rest in our circumstances, but in our obedience to God, and God’s faithfulness to his promises! Our safety doesn’t rely on our abilities but on God’s abilities, and power!
I invite you today, and this fall to walk in obedience with God and to go wherever Jesus may be leading you.

Prayer: Thank you Father that I am precious in your sight, that you honor me, and for your unfailing love toward me. Hold me with your victorious right hand as I courageously but step out in faith to obey you. Amen.
